  • "Great meal on the terrace"

    4 Reviewed 2014-03-24 01:14:19 By Ralph M

We were here just last weekend and luckily finished before the rain started (Rain in Dubai!? what?!). We had a great night and it's mainly because of the guys working on serving the tables. They were able to recommend most of our meal, and the taste was excellent. We also enjoyed a nice wine with it based on their recommendation. Having the water feature around the terrace with some soft playing music was the perfect ambiance for us, Burj Khalifa overlooking us from above. Well done. It's worth getting yourself a Rotana rewards card when dinner at Rotana often, as 25% off the meal for 4, and 15% off the drinks bill reduced the bill by Dhs300 !!

  • "Nice flavours"

We ate here as it was on the doorstep of the hotel we were staying in Al Murooj Rotana. We sat down outside which was a perfect temperature. We didn't choose a starter, just had poppadoms. So glad we did as the main courses were filling. I sampled each of the four friends we were with dishes, and loved them all. Perfect amount of chilli kick for me. We had pilau rice, this had small pieces of veg in it ( not like UK pilau) which was tasty. The waiter had originally tried to push us to have the bread basket, but we chose 1 peshwari and 1 garlic naan and that was enough for four people. We enjoyed the meal at this restaurant.

  • "Wonderful Tandoor meats"

The Tandoor meats and breads are absolutely delicious. Besides the typical northern Indian dishes, there were some other interesting dishes as well. As we dined out regularly at Indian restaurants we were pleased with all dishes we ordered. The lady, Snehal, who served us made our dinner enjoyable. In fact from our observations, she is pivotal for the restaurant as she directs the service team. She also has good knowledge of the food as she explained the different tastes to us and when we were worried about the spiciness of the dishes she asked the chef to tone down the hotness level for us.

  • "Cannot comment on the food, but a little warning"

I had read some good reviews of this restaurant and so we planned to go there one Friday evening. On arrival the restaurant, which is quite big and cavernous, was empty, although I think there were some people on the terrace, although we were the only reservation in the reservation book. The waiter brought us the wine list and advised that they did not sell wine by the glass and that they were out of most of the beers. The price of wine by the bottle was extortionate, the cheapest red was about 600dh and we were advised that the prices had recently been reduced by 50%. We really couldn't justify spending that kind of money on not very good wines and so said we would leave. Then the waiter offered to bring us a glass of 'kachara' wine from their sister restaurant Pergola which they could sell us by the glass. I assume he assumed that we did not know that 'kachara' means rubbish, but as we did we decided to eat elsewhere. It's a pity as I'm sure the food was delicious. So, there we were on a Friday night with no reservation. We thought our night was ruined but managed to get a last minute 'indian-fix' reservation at Ushna at Madinat Jumeirah which was fantastic.

Try the Aloo Chat & Achaari Jhinga.. Its finger licking good. And then the Mutton Biriyani, and finish with a Ras Malai :)

Don't try Kashmiri Roghanjosh it is not the real Roghanjosh just a ginger paste. The real one is totally different.
